There are now three ways you can get a free test in Pendle.

You can:

• go to a mobile testing unit in Nelson or Barnoldswick
• visit a community drop-in testing site in Nelson or Brierfield town centre
• request a home testing kit.

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “It’s really important that we identify people who may not have symptoms but who have the virus.

“This action is number one in our five point plan which aims to prevent coronavirus from spreading."

The mobile testing units are currently in Nelson on the former fairground site on Carr Road and on Rainhall Road Car Park in Barnoldswick, up to and including 31 July.

You must book an appointment to attend these sites which are open between 10am – 3.30pm. You can do this via www.pendle.gov.uk/coronavirus 

The community drop-in testing sites are outside Brierfield Community Centre and in Nelson town centre outside Pendle Rise shopping centre between 10.30am and 3pm. You do not need to book an appointment.

If you do not want to attend in person for a test, you can request a home testing kit via Pendle Council's website.

Councillor Iqbal added: “To make sure that as many people as possible can access the testing sites they will be moving to suitable locations across Pendle.

“Let’s do it for Pendle and get tested!”

As well as getting tested, Pendle Council’s five point plan urges you to:

• avoid family and group gatherings indoors and overnight stays
• wherever possible, do shopping online, pre-book appointments and make contactless payments
• wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces – including shops and supermarkets.

Meanwhile, shops and businesses must display the maximum number of people allowed inside and stick to that number to maintain social distancing and keep customers and staff safe.
