The Pendle Sculpture Trail is closed

Pendle Council is urging people not to come to Barley to visit The Pendle Sculpture Trail – it’s currently closed following the coronavirus outbreak.

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, explained: “It’s our duty to protect everyone who visits our tourist attractions.

“We need to help reduce the spread of coronavirus which means The Pendle Sculpture Trail will remain closed until further notice.”

The popular sculpture trail, which starts just outside the village of Barley, includes a range of sculptures which help tell the true story of the Pendle Witches.

It was first launched in 2012 for the 400th anniversary of the Pendle Witches of 1612.

Dean Langton, Chief Executive, added: “Hundreds of people flock to Barley to climb Pendle Hill or visit the sculpture trail, especially when it’s good weather.

“The trail is currently closed but we’ll continue to review the situation as lockdown eases.

“Please do not come to Barley if your intention is to visit The Pendle Sculpture Trail.”
