Flying thank you banners for key workers in Pendle

“We’re flying thank you banners in Pendle to show our appreciation of key workers,” said Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council.
“We want to thank all those who are making a difference during the COVID-19 crisis.
“We are flagging up our thanks to everyone who’s going above and beyond every single day to help others.
“People are showing remarkable resilience,” he stressed.
The 24 thank you banners, featuring a rainbow of hope for everyone on the frontline in this crisis, are being displayed on lamp posts in Nelson, Colne, Brierfield, Kelbrook and Higherford.
Dean Langton, Pendle Council’s Chief Executive added:
“We also want to thank our hard working staff who are keeping essential services going at this very challenging time.
“They include our bin crews who are emptying well over 40,000 bins every week.
“This vital frontline service is appreciated more than ever by local people, during this lockdown,” he said.
“The banners are also designed to thank volunteers from Pendle Leisure Trust who are working seven days a week in the Pendle Community Support Hub, getting help to those who need it,” Dean added.
Anyone who hasn’t family or friends nearby to help them, can contact the Hub for food shopping, getting prescriptions and for support tackling loneliness and there’s financial and debt advice available too.
The hub is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm & 10am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday including bank holidays.
