Pharmacies across the borough are helping to spread the word that Pendle Community Support Hub is here for our vulnerable residents.

Over the next two months any prescriptions collected from a Green Cross Pharmacy will be given out in a specially branded Community Support Hub bag.

It’s another reminder that there is help available for Pendle residents who don’t have a network of friends or family nearby who can help during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Hub is run by Pendle Council in partnership with Pendle Leisure Trust and supported by Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Community and Voluntary Service (CVS) and other organisations and volunteers.

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “Since we opened at the end of March we’ve been able to support almost 900 people, giving them a much needed lifeline.

“I’m so proud of the commitment of everyone who works in the Hub either on the phone or knocking on doors to let residents know we’re here for those who need us.”

The Hub is open every day and can help with:

  • advice on where to get food
  • help with shopping
  • support for mental health issues
  • dog walking
  • collecting prescriptions
  • dealing with social isolation and loneliness
  • financial and debt advice

Pendle Community Support Hub is open Monday to Friday 9am – 4pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am – 3pm.

And it will be open as normal on Friday (8 May) which is a bank holiday for VE Day.

Dean Langton, Chief Executive of Pendle Council, said: “We are working with a number of organisations which means the Hub can help vulnerable people find the right support when they need it.

“We know people are being affected by the pandemic differently and may become vulnerable. The Hub is here for you.”
