Every home in Pendle will receive a postcard promoting Pendle Community Support Hub – a crucial service for vulnerable residents who don’t have any family or friends nearby.

Around 41,500 postcards are now dropping through letterboxes highlighting how the service can help during the coronavirus outbreak

The Hub is run by Pendle Council in partnership with Pendle Leisure Trust and supported by Burnley and Pendle Community and Voluntary Service (CVS) and other organisations and volunteers.

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “Together we’re helping vulnerable residents to make sure that they are not isolated and can access what they need.

“In addition to getting food deliveries and prescriptions we can help with dog walking, mental health issues and dealing with social isolation and loneliness as well as financial and debt advice.”

Since the Hub opened at the end of March it has helped 710 people.

Alison Goode, Chief Executive of Pendle Leisure Trust said: “We are really pleased to be supporting Pendle Council and playing our part in helping the local community during this very difficult time.

“We have a dedicated team – including reception staff, beauty therapists and swimming and gym instructors – answering phone calls and emails seven days a week.

“Everyone is doing a brilliant job and we are proud to be able to help some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents.

“If we can help we will, so please don’t hesitate to contact us!”

Dean Langton, Chief Executive of Pendle Council added: “As well as being available for people who contact us, we’re also actively contacting thousands of vulnerable residents directly to see if we can help.

“Many don’t need our support but we’re here seven days a week for those who do.

“I’m very proud of Pendle Community Support Hub and thank everyone who has volunteered to help provide this much-needed service.

“Together we are making a big difference at this very difficult time.”

Banners are now in many of Pendle’s supermarkets, including Sainsbury’s in Colne and Morrisons in Nelson, promoting the Hub.

The Hub is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and 10am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday.
