Flying the Flag for the cottages.com Colne Grand Prix

The Colne Grand Prix’s headline sponsor cottages.com visited Colne this week to see the circuit and fly the flag ahead of the big race on Tuesday, 26th July.

Marketing Director, Nick Smith, and Digital Marketing Manager, Simon Norton, both keen cyclists, met Cllr Sarah Cockburn-Price, Chairman of Colne Town Council.

Nick said: “We’re very excited to be able to sponsor the Colne Grand Prix!  

“We’re looking forward to a fine evening of great racing,” he added.

Sarah said: “It was great to show them the route which is the fastest in the UK series.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the race and to be picked by British Cycling to host the final of the Men’s UK Elite Series for the first time.”

And the global holiday company, based in Earby, shares our passion for cycling and has a long history of supporting cycling events in Pendle.

Last September Welcome Cottages, one of their brands, was headline sponsor of the Tour of Britain Stage 2 race.

Stage 2 had a dramatic finish in Colne seen by millions around the world.

Nick Rudge, managing director of the holiday company said: “We have been the headline sponsor of the Colne Grand Prix for the last seven years and we were extremely proud to be headline sponsor of Stage Two of the Aviva Tour of Britain.

“We’ve lots of very keen cyclists at our company and the Colne Grand Prix is one of the highlights of our year,” he said.

  • 6.15pm        Parade Lap with Cycle Sport Pendle young riders & Youth Race supported by Colne Town Council
  • 7pm             Fort Vale’s Sprint for Success Race for talented up-and-coming riders including their own young                            apprentice, Jack Thomas
  • 8pm             Colne Grand Prix sponsored by cottages.com
  • 9pm             Prize presentations on the podium, including overall winner of the  UK Elite Series.
