Canvassers working for Pendle Council are now out and about in the borough’s towns and villages delivering Household Enquiry Forms.

It’s part of the Council’s annual voter registration canvass to make sure residents are on the electoral register and don’t lose the right to vote.

It’s particularly important that anyone who has moved address recently looks out for the Form and checks whether they’re registered.

Gillian Turpin, Pendle Council’s Elections Manager, said: “The delivery of Household Enquiry Forms is the first step in registering to vote.

“Please check the details are correct for your property. If they are then you can use the automated telephone or text facility or go online.

“If changes need to be made, or new residents need to be added, you need to make changes to the form itself or do it online.

“You can’t use the automated facility for making changes.”

If anyone fails to confirm or amend the information on their Household Enquiry Form, they will be visited by Pendle Council canvassers during late August and September.

If your name isn’t included in the register, you won’t be able to vote in elections. You may also find it difficult to get a mortgage or credit, or to open a bank account.
