Pendle Leisure Trust Centres to close doors from 3pm on Sunday

Published: Friday, 20th March 2020

“To protect public safety and prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Pendle Leisure Trust and Pendle Council have taken the decision to close all Pendle Leisure Trust centres,” announced Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council.

“All centres will close at 3pm on Sunday 22 March and until further notice,” he stated.

Pendle Leisure Trust facilities are:

•    The ACE Centre, including the Courtyard Bistro

•    Pendle Wavelengths, gym and Inside Spa, Nelson

•    The MUNI Theatre in Colne

•    Pendle Leisure Centre including swimming pool in Colne

•    West Craven Sports Centre and swimming pool in Barnoldswick

•    Seedhill Athletics & Fitness Centre including track in Nelson.

And Pendle Leisure Trust’s community projects - The Goodlife growing project at Hodge House Allotments in Nelson and the Up & Active programmes will also be closed until further notice.

However Marsden Park Golf Course, operated by the Trust‘s partner Reevolution Golf will remain open until further notice.
Alison Goode, Chief Executive of the Pendle Leisure Trust said:

“We have been operating as normally as possible, with extra measures in place to protect the public and staff.

“The decision to close has been taken with a heavy heart,” she said.

“But we have to put the safety and well-being of our loyal and active customers first and it’s vital that our staff are protected, too.”

“We are working through our existing bookings and will contact customers in the near future,” she stated.

The Pendle Leisure Trust’s normal terms and conditions will not apply during the period of closure and the Trust will not collect any direct debit payments during this period.

Any pre-paid memberships, such as annual gym memberships, will be extended to compensate for the period of closure.
Alison added:

“We will follow Government guidance and once it is safe to re-open our doors we look forward to welcoming people back to enjoy our services and activities.”

People who use Pendle Leisure Trust facilities or who take part in projects are being asked to visit www.pendleleisuretrust.co.uk and to follow us on Twitter @PendleLeisure and Facebook @pendleleisureofficial for further updates.

“We know how valued our leisure centres, the Muni Theatre, the ACE Centre and our community activities are to our local communities.

“They will be more important than ever once the current pandemic is over,” she stressed.

“We wish to thank all of our customers for their continued support and ask people to please bear with us during this challenging period,” said Alison.

“Pendle Leisure Trust is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving Pendle’s residents’ health and well-being,” she stated.
