Want to have your say in the General Election?

Published: Thursday, 14th November 2019

Pendle Council is reminding residents who may have recently moved house and want to have their say in the General Election to register to vote at their current address.

On Thursday 12 December residents will be given the opportunity to elect the borough’s Member of Parliament (MP).

Anyone not already on the electoral register has until midnight on Tuesday 26 November to register to vote.

It’s quick and easy to do it online - www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

The deadline to submit a postal vote application is 5pm on Tuesday 26 November and the deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 4 December.

To do this you need to email elections@pendle.gov.uk or call (01282) 661662.

Philip Mousdale, Pendle Council’s Returning Officer, said: “With a General Election taking place this year, we expect more people will want to make sure they are on the electoral register.

“Poll cards are starting to go out this week so if you don’t receive one by Wednesday 20 November then it’s wise to check if you’re on the register, particularly if you’ve recently moved house.”

You can check if you’re on the electoral register by calling (01282) 661662 or emailing elections@pendle.gov.uk and staff in our Elections Team will check it for you.
