Pendle outlines its new community safety strategy

Tackling the causes of crime and keeping young people and adults with vulnerabilities safe are among the key priorities set out in Pendle’s latest Community Safety Strategy.
Pendle Community Safety Partnership is made up of a number of partners including* Pendle Council, Lancashire police, Lancashire Fire and Rescue, Lancashire County Council and the community and voluntary sector.
Together they are focusing on three priorities over the next three years.
- Keeping young people and adults with vulnerabilities safe
- Tackling the causes of crime through education and early intervention
- Campaigns to remind people how to keep themselves and their families safe
The Partnership will focus on local priorities including tackling substance misuse and domestic abuse, along with other rising national offences such as knife crime.
Councillor David Whipp, Chairman of Pendle Community Safety Partnership, said: “Crime levels are on the rise again and central government, police and local authority resources have reduced significantly.
“This means partnership work is called for now more than ever to make sure we do what we can to keep people safe in Pendle.”

She added: “The Partnership has a good track record of working together and meeting its priorities and we’ll be continuing to do all we can to tackle local issues.
