The highest Investors in People award available, it recognises the Council's commitment to the ongoing development of its staff.

The Investors in People Gold award represents achievement of world class best practice.

It's awarded to truly cutting-edge organisations operating at the very highest levels of people management practice using Investors in People to drive the business forward.

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, said: "Being awarded this prestigious Gold standard is fantastic news for the Council and I want to thank all the staff whose efforts have contributed to this success.

"It's also really good news for our residents who can be assured that we're investing in our staff to run local services that best meet the needs of Pendle's communities.

"Staff are continuing to perform at the highest levels in such challenging financial times and I'm proud to be able to say that they all go the extra mile for residents."

Dean Langton, Strategic Director, added: "The award recognises that we communicate effectively with all staff and have created an environment where our staff are able to give and receive feedback and contribute their ideas for future service requirements.

"It demonstrates a commitment to staff development and shows an organisation committed to being the very best it can be."

The Council remains in an elite group of organisations that have been awarded the Investors in People (IIP) Gold standard – only 3% of organisations that are awarded IIP status achieve Gold.

Anne Milne, IIP Assessor, said: "Since achieving its Gold status three years ago, Pendle Council has clearly worked hard to retain it.

"It has continually strived to improve its working practices to help it move forward and maintain and improve services for residents whilst managing continual funding cuts.

"I'm particularly impressed with its efforts to provide long-term stability and development opportunities for its employees."
