Offenders are given the opportunity to reclaim their equipment after repaying the Council’s costs from seizing the equipment.

Carmela Lo Presti, Environmental Health Residential Team, explained: “If equipment isn’t reclaimed we can sell it six months later.

“Our latest seizures will be sold through an auction house, with the proceeds going towards the cost of our time monitoring their noise and taking the equipment.”

Equipment being sold includes two televisions, two computer monitors, a PlayStation 3, several speakers, a sound bar, microphone and a mixing desk.

The Council has the legal powers to take items that are being used to cause noise nuisance under the Noise Act.

The items were taken from two properties in Pendle following complaints from neighbours.

One Environmental Health Officer who visited a property in Pendlemist View, Colne, said that the music was so loud that the floors in a neighbour's property were vibrating.

He said that the noise was one of the worst cases he had ever experienced.

Councillor Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “Noise nuisance impacts on all aspects of our quality of life, causing stress and anxiety.

“No one should have to put up with noisy neighbours.”

This allows people to record noise as it happens, building up a diary of evidence to validate any noise complaint.
