Remembrance parades and services in Pendle

Local people are invited to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday 11th November to remember Pendle service men and women who’ve lost their lives in both World Wars and in conflicts around the world since.
His Worship the Mayor of Pendle, Pendle’s Mayor, Councillor James Keith Starkie said:
“We are also marking the 100th anniversary of the ending of the Great War, World War 1,” he explained.
“We have made special arrangements with the Mayor of our French twin town, Creil, for those laying wreaths to be wearing both the British poppy and the French equivalent, the blue cornflower, at each other’s ceremonies.”
“I am inviting everyone to join me and Pendle’s Deputy Mayor and Pendle Councillors at wreath laying ceremonies in 15 towns and villages across Pendle.
“They are taking place in Barley, Barnoldswick, Barrowford, Blacko, Brierfield and Reedley, Colne, Earby, Fence, Foulridge, Higham, Laneshaw Bridge, Nelson, Newchurch, Salterforth and Trawden,” he said.
“It will be a very poignant day as we remember the brave men and women who have given their lives for our country,"” he said.
“We will also be marking the 100th anniversary of the first ever armistice for the First World War.
