This comes after two of the borough’s mid-sized companies have been recognised for their outstanding growth in the Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table.

Ranking in the top three is Nelson’s Daisy Group which features in the list for the first time this year.

The communications services provider, part-owned by entrepreneur Matt Riley, recorded sales of £684m, a 14 per cent year-on-year increase, achieving profit of £127m.

Meanwhile Barnoldswick’s Silentnight Group appeared in the list again, ranking 203 with sales of £152m.

The list follows on from the Top Track 100 and ranks the next 250 biggest companies by sales, where sales or profit growth is more than five per cent.

Dennis Mendoros, Chairman of Pendle Vision Board, said: “It’s fantastic to see Silentnight, a local company which has been trading from Barnoldswick since 1949, included in the Sunday Times Top Track 250 again.

“And well done to Nelson’s Daisy Group which features in the list for the first time this year going straight in at number three.

“We know we have some of the most successful businesses in the UK right here on our doorstep but it’s great to have it recognised independently once again.”

Councillor Paul White, Leader of Pendle Council, added: “This is brilliant news and shows Pendle is punching above its weight!

“We want to give Pendle businesses a place to grow and expand and make Pendle more attractive to new businesses from outside the area.

“That’s why we’re pressing ahead with plans to extend Lomeshaye Industrial Estate, one of East Lancashire’s largest employment sites.

“This is part of a wider strategy which links to the improvements to junctions on the M65 leading to Lomeshaye and to our flagship project Northlight, in Brierfield.

“It’s all linked and designed to make Pendle better connected, with more jobs and better future prospects.”
