Free microchipping for dogs on Tuesday 2 October at Holt House

Free microchipping for dogs.

Is your dog microchipped? Don't forget - it's the law!

That's the message from Pendle Council & The Dogs Trust who've teamed up to run a FREE microchipping & health event for dogs inc nail clipping on Tues 2 Oct 11am - 3pm at Holt House Pavilion Harrison Drive, Colne BB8 9SF.

Dog owners in Pendle are urged to stay within the law and to take good care of their pets.

The free community events include a check your chip service, nail clipping and a basic health check by a veterinary nurse.

The health check includes looking at eyes, ears, teeth and weight, to make sure your dog is happy, fit and healthy.

Dog owners risk a £500 fine if their dogs aren’t chipped.

Microchipping is also a permanent way of identifying your pet if they get lost.

A microchip is the size of a grain of rice under the dog’s skin and when a dog goes missing we can scan the microchip and get them home safely.”

All dog owners who attend the event will be provided with a responsible dog ownership pack, including handy tips and useful resources for you to continue to use at home.

Free goodie packs will also be available for puppy owners and those who are thinking of getting a puppy.

And extra goodie packs are available for those wanting to learn how to stay healthy with their dog.

All dogs must be wearing a collar, be on a lead and with someone who is 18 years or over.

Any puppies up to the age of six months must be fully vaccinated and carried and the Dogs’ Trust will need proof of address.

The Dogs Trust may ask for proof of vaccination, too, so dog owners must bring documentation along.
