More blue bins for Pendle!

Pendle Council has ordered more blue bins to meet demand.

Pendle Council has ordered more blue bins to meet demand.

An extra 2,000 blue bins will be rolling into Pendle to meet the high demand for the bin for paper and card recycling.

Pendle Council’s Full Council meeting on Wednesday 4 July voted in favour of ordering 2,000 more blue bins as our supplies had started to run low.

Council Leader, Councillor Paul White explained:
“We’ve supplied over 24,000 blue bins across Pendle but demand for the optional bins has been much higher than anticipated.

“We know that some people still don’t have the blue bin they ordered to store paper and card and we’re very sorry for the wait.

“We’ve agreed to get more bins manufactured so that no one who’s ordered one misses out,” he said.

David Walker, Pendle Council’s Environmental Services Manager said:
“It takes a few weeks to get the bins as they are manufactured specially for us.

“But we should get the final 2,000 bins at the end of August and will start delivering them from the first week of September.

“By the end of September everyone who’s already ordered a blue bin should have one.

“Don’t forget, paper and card can still be put out in green boxes, cardboard boxes and carrier bags,” reminded David.

“Not everyone has the space for a blue bin and they’ve been completely optional,” he stressed.

Pendle Council has also had to order more grey refuse bins and brown recycling bins due to demand and will start delivering them to people who’ve requested them as soon as they arrive.
