Mystery man launches Pendle’s 2018 Visit Pendle guide

Manny on his favourite cycle ride round Pendle's Three Peaks - near Weets with Pendle Hill in the distance.
The identity of a keen cyclist and explorer of Pendle’s countryside who’s featured on the cover of the new Visit Pendle guide, was announced this week.
“Manawar Bashah, otherwise known as Manny, is this year’s cover star,” revealed Tourism Officer Mike Williams.
Manny was pictured on Weets summit near Barnoldswick by ace local photographer Andy Tipping of S & A Photography and the striking image chosen for Pendle Council’s 2018 tourism guide.
Manny said:
“I moved from Bradford to Nelson in 1977 when my dad got a job in Lancashire.”
Manny shares his love of cycling and walking with his family, saying:
“You are never more than five minutes away from stunning countryside to walk and cycle in. We are blessed living in Pendle."
Mike Williams said: “It was great to meet Manny in Wycoller, which is another beautiful part of his favourite cycle ride, the Pendle Three Peaks route.

“And there are great places to enjoy a breather along the way,” added Mike, as they met at the Wycoller Tea Room and Craft Centre, which is also featured in the new guide.
Mike explained: “Over 2.7 million tourism visitors bring over £116 million into Pendle’s economy – this is almost 8% more than the previous year.
The 20 page visitor guide is packed with pictures and tempting information on what Pendle has to offer, from walks and events to attractions and accommodation.
The guide features places to visit and things to do including Witches Galore and Bancroft Mill, as well as the newly re-opened Whitehough Outdoor Centre
Visit Pendle also contains a section on the great outdoors with information on walks including news of the development of a new Jonas Moore history walk to celebrate the 17th century mathematician.
And Mike added:
Mike said: “Our guide features a fantastic range of places to stay.
“Latest figures from Visit Lancashire show that overnight visitors brought well over £30 million into Pendle in 2016.
“That’s an increase of over7% from the previous year and shows that our visitor economy is healthy and growing.”
The guide includes the stunning new Fence Gate Lodge, part of the historic acclaimed Fence Gate gastro-pub.
“And there’s the new and uniquely designed cottage The Rookery, in a great location near Pendle Hill, complete with hot tub!” He added.
“Both were deservedly finalists in the recent Lancashire Tourism Awards,” he stated.
