Pendle Council is running three roadshows to help people find out more about recycling changes.

The roadshows will be held at:

•             Asda, Colne on Thursday 22nd February from 12 noon – 6pm
•             Morrisons, Nelson on Saturday 24th February from 10am – 2pm
•             Co-op Barnoldswick on Wednesday 28 February from 2pm – 6pm.

The roadshows will flag up the news that cardboard and paper for recycling will be collected every four weeks instead of every fortnight from April.

At the roadshows, shoppers will be able to take part in a quick recycling competition and two lucky winners at every roadshow will each win £25 supermarket vouchers.

Pendle Council is offering an optional free blue wheelie bin to anyone who’d like one for storing paper and card for four weeks and people will be able to see the new bin at the roadshows.
More details about how the new service will work is on www.pendle.gov.uk/bluebin where people can also order a free blue bin online.

Brown bins for recycling glass bottles, jars, cans and plastic bottles will be collected every four weeks too.

Grey bin collections of rubbish will continue to be collected fortnightly and green bin collections for garden waste will continue to be fortnightly, for those on our optional scheme.

Collection days will stay the same, but there will be a different recycling collection on different weeks.

Councillor David Clegg who leads on recycling said:
“We’re running the roadshows so that people can come and chat to staff about the changes and see what the new blue bins are like.

“They can also order a new blue bin,” he added.

“We’ll be delivering a new calendar explaining which bins to put out when to every home in Pendle in March,” he said.
