“It’s a huge achievement to reach the final and shows that Pendle is the place for tourism and leisure,” said Pendle Council’s leader for tourism, Councillor Eileen Ansar.

“We’re proud to be up there with the very best in Lancashire!” She said.

The Pendle businesses and organisations who reached the final as among the best in their class for 2017 were:

• Inside Spa, Nelson run by Pendle Leisure Trust for Pendle Council and Thornton Hall Country Park family visitor attraction, both shortlisted in the small visitor attraction category
• The Pendle Inn Barley, which was up for a dog friendly award
• The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in Colne, run by Colne Town Council, in the running for a small tourism event award
• The Rookery Roughlee, a self catering cottage with hot tub and views of Pendle Hill which was shortlisted for a new business award
• In-Situ arts organisation based in Brierfield, which has run many high profile events including ones at iconic Northlight, the mill complex owned by PEARL – the Pendle Council and Barnfield joint venture company.

They each received framed finalists certificates.

Councillor Eileen Ansar added:

“Tourism is now worth £116m to Pendle’s local economy, rising from £106m and we’re confident that our visitor economy is expanding and improving year on year.”
