Are you planning to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday?

Pendle Council is urging residents who are planning to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday in June to have a look at the street party guidance on its website.

It sets out what you need to think about, such as how to apply for a road closure as well as information on playing music and whether insurance is needed.

Philip Mousdale, Pendle Council's Corporate Director, said: “Street parties are a great British tradition and a fantastic opportunity for communities to come together to celebrate national occasions.

“Our guidance is a handy tool for anyone thinking about organising a street party.

“As well as busting some myths about what’s needed, there’s a simple form for you to complete so you can let us know about your plans.”

Residents are also asked to consider hosting parties in their own gardens or even in a local park – as long as the area used is cleared afterwards.

Philip added: “Although small parties in quiet streets are pretty straightforward, it’s often easier for residents to host parties at home or in large open spaces.

“But if you’re thinking of using a park, please remember to respect other park users and don’t leave any mess behind!”

Queen Elizabeth II is marking her milestone birthday after becoming Britain’s longest serving monarch - beating her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria - last year.
