Pendle makes a stand against hate crime

Pendle Community Safety Partnership is joining Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner to #saynotohate during Hate Crime Awareness Week (14 -21 October).
It’s urging people to take the Commissioner’s pledge online and ask others to do the same.
The online pledge asks for people’s commitment not to take part in, encourage, condone or ignore hate or hate crimes.
Councillor David Whipp, Chairman of Pendle Community Safety Partnership, said: “It’s important that we tackle hate crime by challenging behaviour which leads to hateful acts taking place.
“Hate incidents and crimes hurt and can be very frightening for the people who are subjected to them.
“They are targeted at a person because of hostility or prejudice towards their disability, race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation and we need to stamp this out.
“Please sign the pledge and encourage your friends and families to do the same.
“We need to spread the word and make sure more people are aware of hate crime and make a stand against it.”
