This fantastic free event will take place at the Steven Burke Sports Hub, Swinden Playing Fields Nelson on Saturday 24th September from 12pm - 4pm.

We’re kicking off the day at 8am with the Wiggle Pedal Pendle Sportives and booking is essential online on the wiggle.co.uk website

Entry fees for the race range from £15 - £30 or you can raise sponsorship for Pendleside Hospice and register at www.pendlesidehospice.org.uk
This is followed by youth races starting from 10.30 am and the Pedal Pendle Festival starting at 12 noon with free activities through till 4pm. 

“It’ll be a jam- packed event for both riders and spectators,” said organiser Tricia Wilson, from Pendle Council.

“Our Festival’s designed to encourage more people from children to adults to take up cycling for health, fitness and leisure,” explained Pendle Council’s champion for cycling, Tony Greaves.
There’ll be try a bike sessions with Go Velo and the chance to have a go at BMX, with bikes provided.

And you can bring your bike along and have it checked over by Dr Bike.

British Cycling is leading two gentle guided rides suitable for beginners on the day. 

The first is a Breeze guided ride for women only setting off at 12 noon from the orange CSP Cycle Sport Pendle tent .

And a Ride Social guided ride sets off at 2pm the CSP tent.  

Tricia said: “Please bring your bike and cycle helmet for these guided rides. 

“It’ll be a great free event for families too,” said Tricia. 

“We’ve got a climbing wall, face painting, henna painting and an exciting day’s racing to watch around the circuit,” she said.

“This event shows that Pendle is passionate about cycling and offers lots of opportunities for competitive and leisure cycling,” added Councillor Greaves.

“We’re keen for more people to come and use the cycle track named after Pendle’s double gold medallist Steven Burke MBE.

“It’s a fantastic facility for all levels of cyclists including beginners,” he said.  

The Hub, including the off the road circuit, can be found on Swinden Playing Fields between Nelson and Barrowford, with public parking for this event via Wilton Street, Barrowford.

“Why not cycle in to our event along the canal tow path or on one of our off road cycling routes,” said Tricia Wilson.
