Do you want to have your say on community safety matters in Pendle?

Pendle Community Safety Partnership is seeking new members to help it make the borough a safer place to live and work.
It’s now inviting applications from residents who’d like to represent their community.
Councillor David Whipp, Chairman of the Community Safety Partnership, said: “If you’re passionate about your area we need to hear from you!
“We’re looking for committed and motivated individuals to help us to deliver our priorities.
“We need people who are interested and informed about their area and who are prepared to make a positive contribution to community safety.
“In particular, we want to improve representation from a cross-section of the community to ensure that we meet the needs of all our residents.”
Pendle Community Safety Partnership meets four times a year to respond to emerging problems and crimes as well as to monitor the Partnership’s targets and actions.
Anyone who takes up one of the unpaid voluntary roles is expected to:
- attend all four meetings
- attend community safety events
- provide information/feedback to their communities they represent
- become a champion to promote the aims and objectives of the Partnership.
Geoff Whitehead, Community Protection and Locality Manager, said: “We work with a number of organisations to manage, prevent and reduce crime and antisocial behaviour in Pendle.
“Our partners include Pendle Council, Lancashire police, Lancashire Fire and Rescue, the National Probation Service and East Lancs Clinical Commissioning Group.”
If you’re interested in taking up one of these roles, please send a brief outline of why you’d like to become a community member with a summary of your skills and experience by 12pm on 21 August.

Applications will be shortlisted by the Chair of Pendle Community Safety Partnership and he will make a recommendation to the Partnership.
Successful applicants will be invited to attend the next Partnership meeting on Monday 11th September at 4pm in Nelson Town Hall.
