Eid Mubarak from Pendle Council’s Leader and Mayor

Published: Thursday, 22nd June 2017

This year Eid will be celebrated on Sunday or Monday (25 or 26 June) and Pendle Council’s Leader and Mayor wish everyone a happy Eid.

Muslims around the world will gather to celebrate Eid as the month-long fasting of Ramadan comes to an end at the weekend.

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader, said: “I hope those celebrating enjoy this special day with their families, friends and neighbours. Eid Mubarak!”

His Worship the Mayor of Pendle, Councillor David Whalley, added: “After a month of fasting, I hope you enjoy this joyous occasion!

“I wish Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating in Pendle and worldwide.”

Councillor Iqbal said: “I’m delighted that our Mayor entered into the spirit of Ramadhan by observing a 19 hour fast so that he could share this experience.

The Mayor and Mayoress were two of around 300 guests at a community iftar last week, breaking the fast with other members of the
community from across Pendle as the sun set over Pendle.
