You don’t need to register twice

Published: Wednesday, 10th May 2017

Residents who’ve registered to vote in the May elections don’t need to register again to vote in the General Election in June.

That’s the message from Pendle Council’s Elections Manager who has received a number of enquiries from residents about whether they need to register twice to vote.

Gill Turpin, Elections Manager, stressed: “If you’ve already registered to vote in the May elections you don’t need to register again unless your circumstances have changed.

“But if you haven’t registered to vote and want to have your say in the General Election, you must register by 22 May.”

The General Election will take place on Thursday 8 June.

You can check if you’re on the electoral register in the Council’s contact centre, Contact Pendle, in Number One Market Street, Nelson as well as in Barnoldswick Council Shop.

You can also view it at Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick libraries.

Alternatively, call the elections office on (01282) 661201 and staff in our Elections Team will check it for you.

Registering to vote is easy and can be done online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. All you need is your National Insurance Number.
