Hot topics wanted for our Scrutiny Team!

Pendle residents are being asked to flag up local issues for Pendle Council’s Scrutiny Team to tackle over the next twelve months.
The Team will be choosing some important topics to focus on in a bid to put forward ideas for improvements.
“The Scrutiny Team can look at anything which affects the quality of life of Pendle people,” explained Councillor Ken Turner, the Team’s Chairman.
“We want to make surewe continue to look at how we can improve the things that mean most to people in Pendle.
“We can only be sure that we’re doing this if local people tell us what these important things are.
"That's why we’re urging people to give us their suggestions,” he said.
People whose topics are taken up will be invited to get involved, if they wish.
And anyone in the local community can join Scrutiny Team meetings and contribute ideas and information on subjects which are important to them.
The deadline for suggestions is Friday 24th February and forms are available from Council reception areas or via our website www.pendle.gov.uk/scrutinyrequest.

Lynne said:
“Over the last year the Scrutiny Team has focused on mental health care in the community, care homes and on mental health wards.
“The Team has also looked at drug and alcohol rehabilitation provision in East Lancashire,” she explained.
Reports on the findings will soon be available to view on the Council’s website.
“In addition, the Team has looked at how to improve Pendle’s resilience to flooding, following the 2015 Boxing Day storm, said Lynne.
In recent years, thanks to the work of the Scrutiny Team, the Council has committed to developing a Dementia Friendly Community.
A Dementia Action Alliance has been set up and the Team has approved an Action Plan.
The Team has also keenly supported the development of the Changing Places toilet facility which has been installed at Stanley Villas, Albert Road, Colne.
This facility is for people with disabilities who cannot use standard accessible toilets.
A further scrutiny study has resulted in the development of an action plan to promote Pendle and the approval of a Cycling Strategy.
The Scrutiny Team is currently speaking with young people to find out how the Council can improve consultation with them on local decisions.
