The event has been organised by Pendle Council with support from Whitefield Community Forum, Liberata, Great Places and Pendle developer, Barnfield.

An attractive linear park with trees and seating areas at the heart of Whitefield will be officially opened by Pendle's Mayor, Councillor Nawaz Ahmed at 2.30pm.

The Mayor will also cut the ribbon on Every Street, opening it up to traffic for the first time in many years.

Councillor Iqbal said:  "This will make Whitefield much better connected and no longer a cul-de-sac.

"We've been working with  Lancashire County Council in the  re-opening of Every Street.

"It's what residents have been wanting for some time," he explained.

Tim Webber, Managing Director of Barnfield said: "This event marks the end of a historic chapter for Whitefield and the completion of a very ambitious project of which, as a Pendle contractor who has undertaken the renovation work on  the houses, we're very proud."

At the event short heritage tours of the area will be led by Rosemary Lyons, Pendle Council's expert on conservation.

And children can take part in a eye spy quiz with their families, around the conservation area.

There'll be free refreshments, stalls and the chance for people to say why they love Whitefield, with a draw for fifteen people to win one of the stylish deckchairs sponsored by Barnfield.

At the event, local residents and would-be house buyers will be able to see how the Victorian terraces have been totally transformed with  a viewing home open  on Every Street.

Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, who lives and works in Whitefield said:

"I've lived in Whitefield all my life!

"It's a great neighbourhood! It's so close to Nelson's improved town centre and yet near to Victoria Park, and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

"Whitefield also has stunning views of Pendle Hill," he added.

Pendle Council worked in partnership with Liberata and Barnfield Construction to design, renovate and refurbish terraced houses in Whitefield.

PEARL, the pioneering joint venture development company between Pendle Council and Barnfield Investment Properties completed 14 spacious new family friendly homes called Marsden Rise.

A show home in the new development of Great Places homes for affordable shared ownership by the linear park will be open, too.

The houses are available to rent and buy, through an affordable home ownership scheme called Plumlife, from Great Places.

Great Places also bought 18 terraced houses in Whitefield from Pendle Council which have been totally refurbished as affordable homes to rent.

Prices of houses in the conservation area have been reduced in time for the event.

Attractive stone built two bedroom terraces now start at £72,000 rising to £124,950 for a four bedroom house with the incentive of a 32 inch flat screen TV if a house purchase is completed by 31 November.
