This year’s Pendle Business Awards, set to take place on Thursday 23 July, has been postponed.

Pendle Council and Pendle Vision have taken the difficult decision to postpone the event following advice from the Government’s medical experts in response to the coronavirus (Covid-19).

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “We’ve been monitoring the developing coronavirus situation on a daily basis and our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our guests, suppliers, employees and their families.

“It’s disappointing to delay this year’s Pendle Business Awards but it’s important we heed the experts’ advice as a precaution against the spread of the virus.

“We’re making this decision now because we don’t know what the impact will be over the coming months.

“As soon as we have an alternative date we will let you know.”

Dennis Mendoros, OBE DL, Chairman of Pendle Vision Board, added: “We know that for many businesses this is a worrying time and we want to celebrate with you when the time is right.

“It’s important that we do all we can to minimise the spread of the virus which means not doing things like visiting shortlisted businesses and not bringing hundreds of people together for the event.

“And we don’t want to distract businesses from doing what you need to do in response to this extraordinary period of uncertainty.”

Councillor Iqbal added: “Entries are closed for now and will re-open once we have a new date.

“Thank you to everyone who has already entered the awards – we’ll be getting in touch with you about the next steps.”
