Come and see Lancashire's largest surviving cotton mill steam engine running!
Bancroft Mill Steaming 9th July 2017 We have a very special Sunday coming up with our next mill Steaming! Come and see us this Sunday and witness Lancashire's largest surviving steam mill engine running, a second, unique, steam engine under restoration (that is nearing completion and can be turned over by electric motor), regular guided tours, a flaming antique boiler, weaving demonstrations, café and gift shop. On this special day we will be joined by the Land Rover Series 2 Club, who hope to bring one that was owned by Fred Dibnah, who restored and reinforced our mill chimney in the late 1990’s! Also, for this special event, we will invite a few lucky youngsters to start our 650 horse power steam engine! Two very skilled gentlemen have been refurbishing our Pilling Lancashire loom which can now be seen weaving our tea towels to a better standard than ever before. There is majority disabled access, free parking, a tea room, the gift shop, a large collection of model steam engines and a fascinating historic cotton mill to explore. Dogs are welcome (on a lead).
