Pendle Borough Council

Council, Councillors and Committees

By the 31st December this year, the Council must make changes to the way in which its Leader and Executive operates. To see a further explanation, and to find out how to give us your views, view the Proposed Changes to Executive Arrangements.

Welcome to the Council, Government and Democracy section of the website. You can find information on your local councillor and ward, Council processes, and how you can be involved in Council activity.

The Council consists of democratically elected councillors. They are responsible for making decisions on behalf of the local community about local services, and are there to represent its views. You can attend most council meetings, obtain meeting papers and can contact your local councillor about issues which concern you.

There are 49 councillors  on Pendle Borough Council: 17 Conservative, 16 Liberal/Democrat, 13 Labour, 2 British National Party and 1 Independent.

These are listed as Councillors by Ward, Councillors by Party or Councillors by Name.

You can also search for your Councillor by postcode.

You can find out about the Council's committees, and look at the latest Committee Minutes, Agendas and Reports. Some of our Committee Minutes may have maps associated with them. In order to be able to view maps, you will need to download the free Autodesk DWF Viewer.

Councillors are subject to the Council's Member Code of Conduct. This is overseen by the Standards Committee.

Where a complaint is made about the behaviour of a Councillor, this will be investigated and a report made to the Committee. The Committee may hold a hearing in public and publicise its decision.

For further information, see our page, Complaining about the behaviour of a Councillor

In the meantime, if you require assistance in obtaining Committee Minutes, please contact the Committee Administration section on 01282 661648.
