In order to provide riding lessons or hire out horses for payment, a licence is required under the Riding Establishments Acts 1964 and 1970. Licenses are issued by the local authority and are subject to a satisfactory vets inspection. The local authority may impose additional conditions before issuing a licence. A fee of £242.85 is payable with each application.

Service Eligibility:
Veterinary surgeons, police forces and zoos are exempt from having to apply for this licence.
Service Accessibility:
An annual licence fee of £242.85 is payable. A satisfactory inspection of the premises must also be carried out.
