Housing benefit - making a new claim: Outline
Housing Benefit is a benefit for people on a low income to help them pay their rent. You may be able to get Housing Benefit if you are on other benefits, work part-time or work full-time on a low income. You cannot get Housing Benefit to help with the costs of a mortgage or home loan.
Online services:
- Complete an online form for an instant benefits and tax credit estimate (you do not need to supply personal details but this is only a guideline. For a full evaluation make a formal claim as soon as possible)
- Complete an online form to apply for council tax and housing benefit (service available soon)
- Download a leaflet explaining how to apply for housing and council tax benefit
