Make sure you’re on the register

This year's elections to Pendle Borough Council will be held on Thursday 6th May.

Pendle residents have until 20th April to get on the Register of Electors, to be eligible to vote in this election.

There will be Borough Council elections in 16 of Pendle's 20 wards this year.

And even though the date for the General Election hasn't been announced, registering now means you will have a vote in this important election too.  

If your name is not included in the electoral register, you simply won't be able to vote in any elections.

You can check the register in the Council's contact centre, Contact Pendle, in Number One Market Street, Nelson as well as in Barnoldswick Council Shop.

You can also view it at Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick libraries.

Alternatively, call the elections office on (01282) 661662 and staff in our Elections Team will check for you.

Gillian Hartley, Pendle Council's Elections Officer, said:

"Sometimes people don't realise they need to re-register every year to secure their right to vote. 

"We wrote to all Pendle households in August last year as part of our annual voter registration process.

"If you are not sure if you returned your form, or if you have moved house since then and have not re-registered at your new address, then take a few minutes to do so now, and make sure nothing stops you from having your say on election day.

"To register all you have to do is fill in an application form as soon as possible."

Application forms are available from Contact Pendle in Nelson, and Colne and Barnoldswick Council shops.
