Young people’s survey looks at leisure time

Published Wednesday 3rd February 10

Are you aged between 11 and 18 years and living in Pendle? If so Pendle Council wants to know what you think about what there is to do in your spare time.

A Council Scrutiny Panel has worked closely with young people from the Pendle District Youth Council to put together a questionnaire.

This is being sent to students in high schools and colleges in Pendle.

Community Researchers are also taking it out onto the streets of Pendle to get young people's views about their leisure time.

The deadline for returning surveys is Friday 12 February.

Kath Haydock, the Council's Scrutiny Manager said:

"Completed questionnaires from young people will be entered into a prize draw.

There's a chance of winning a £20 High Street shopping voucher or the opportunity to make your very own CD in the new Studio 11 Recording Studio at the ACE Centre in Nelson. "

Councillor Asjad Mahmood who is leading the Scrutiny Panel explained:

"The information that young people give us will be shared with the people who provide facilities and activities for young people.

This will give organisations a clearer idea of whether what they're providing is what Pendle's young people want and whether their needs are being met.

"It might also show if there's anything that young people would like to see which isn't already being provided."

If you're aged between 11 and 18 and haven't yet been asked to complete a questionnaire you can do so online at www.feedbackonline.org.uk/yp2010.

If you would rather have a paper copy of the questionnaire just phone the Scrutiny Manager, Kath Haydock, on 01282 661607.
