Pendle Council asks: where should we build?

Published Tuesday 26th January 10

Pendle Council’s planning department has just published details of 50 sites which local people think may be suitable for things like housing, schools, transport or businesses.

If you prefer, you can send a letter, email or fax your comments to the Council.

The report follows consultations in summer 2007 and 2008 where the Council asked people to put forward their suggestions.

They were also invited to tell the Council about any areas of land they felt shouldn't be developed, or where any development should be required to meet higher standards.

Councillor David Clegg, who leads on planning matters in Pendle, said:

"Please take time to have a look at these proposals and let us have your comments for, or against, the uses that have been suggested.

"Your views will help to guide decisions on where future development in Pendle should go."

He explained:

"The consultation runs for six weeks.

"It is an opportunity for you to view the proposals that have not yet been publicised, and to comment on these if you wish to do so.

"This consultation does not allow you to put forward new sites for consideration."

Councillor Clegg added:

"Before coming to any decisions, we will carefully consider your views, together with the economic, social and environmental impacts of any development proposal."

The official six-week consultation period started at 9am on Friday 8th January 2010 and closes at 5pm on Monday 22nd February 2010.
