Looking for work? Evolve could be the answer!

Published Wednesday 16th December 09

A revolutionary website which helps Pendle residents to find work or training now includes job vacancies and volunteering opportunities.

Evolve was launched in July as a one-stop-shop for advice on becoming job-ready.

Now visitors can see the latest job vacancies and find out how to apply for them.

And if they're looking for volunteering opportunities they can also see what's available.

Councillor Allan Buck, who leads on Economic Development in Pendle, said: "This is a fantastic step forward.

"When Evolve was launched in July it brought together local services which deliver support to jobseekers.

"And this is the final piece of the jigsaw.

"We're always striving to help people get into work and by linking in with local employers and support organisations we can do just that."

Roger Plum, Employment Initiatives Project Co-ordinator for Pendle Council, added: "Evolve supports our Employment Strategy which aims to cut the number of people not in work.

"There are many reasons why people aren't working. These can range from health, lack of skills and experience, to caring responsibilities.

"Whatever the reason, it has a cost for the individuals, their families and the economy and we want to help."

As well as job vacancies and volunteering opportunities, there's also news and events and links to organisations which can help with job applications and CVs.

Roger added: "We want all Pendle organisations which can support local people in becoming job-ready to include their details on Evolve.

"It's a good opportunity to promote your service and target a wider audience in Pendle."
