Pendle Council shines at Westminster!

Pendle Council’s health and safety work has been highlighted as good practice on a national platform this week.
Terri Cox, the Council's Health and Safety Officer, was a speaker at yesterday's Westminster Briefing in London.
She was invited to give a short presentation at the event for local government professionals, policy makers and various civil dignitaries.
Terri spoke about how Pendle manages Health and Safety within the Council.
She explained how everyone from the top down is actively involved in ensuring that there is a positive Health and Safety culture.
Terri Cox said:
"It was fantastic to be asked to speak at the Westminster Briefing.
"Pendle Council is one of only a few organisations which the Health & Safety Executive classes as a best practice case study.
"It was a privilege to be chosen to speak at the event - especially as I was speaking alongside representatives from household names including British Sugar, the NHS and Lord Jordan."
After her presentation, Terri joined other health and safety professionals on a panel to take part in a debate on successful health and safety approaches.
At the event Terri learnt more about the latest government plans and legislation affecting health and safety, plus how best to promote health and safety leadership in the workplace.
Terri added:
"Initially the thought of presenting on such a prestigious platform was very daunting, but the experience was enjoyable and I felt proud to be able to represent Pendle in such a positive light."
Councillor John David, Leader of Pendle Council, said:
"I congratulate Terri on this achievement, and thank her for putting health and safety at Pendle Council on this national platform.
"It's wonderful to be recognised as one of the best organisations in the country for our health and safety practices.
"To be selected to speak at the event as the only local authority among the Health & Safety Executive's leading case studies is even better."
Terri's appearance at the Westminster Briefing follows Pendle Council's success being shortlisted for awards in two categories of this year's Safety and Health Practitioner & Institute of Occupational Safety and Health awards, dubbed the Health & Safety Oscars.
