"As Hallowe'en approaches, the spotlight certainly falls on Pendle," said Councillor Allan Buck, who represents tourism locally.

"We're expecting many people to come to Pendle to explore our fascinating Witches Trail and enjoy this very special part of the country.

"And we want them to do so in safety.

"That's why, once again, we've been working with the local police and our neighbouring Ribble Valley Borough Council to put in place traffic arrangements.

"Our intention is to help them enjoy their Hallowe'en without causing any disruption to people living in the villages around our famous hill."

Many people enjoying visiting the famous Pendle Hill around Hallowe'en. Pendle and Ribble Valley councils and the local police are encouraging people who want to climb Pendle Hill to do so by day. "Make sure you're suitably dressed with proper footwear, and things like food and drink and a mobile phone just in case.

"We will be closing off some roads from 5.30pm on the 31st to keep people safe, and to reduce noise and disruption for local residents.

"Barley car park will be open, but the road into Barley village will be closed from the Four Lane Ends junction to The Avenue.

"Residents shouldn't worry about getting to and from their homes as the area will be policed to make sure they have access.

"And, as in previous years, there will be a one-way system over the Nick o' Pendle."
