The Smaller Brown Bins Are Coming!

Published Monday 12th October 09

If you’ve asked Pendle Council for a smaller brown bin, it will be delivered in the next few weeks.

We're asking residents who are waiting for a smaller brown bin, to be patient while we get through the list of around 1,200 deliveries.

Councillor John David, who represents recycling in Pendle, said :

"When we gave people the choice, many asked for a smaller brown bin.

"Lots of these requests came in before the August deadline, and were delivered during September.

"But many more people have now requested a smaller bin.

"We're happy to deliver the bins, but we're asking for their patience while we complete these deliveries.

"The main thing is that all homes in Pendle now have a brown bin, making recycling so much easier.

"Please use your large bin while you wait for your smaller one to be delivered - it will arrive soon!"

The brown bins are for plastic bottles, food and drinks cans, and glass bottles and jars.

Bryan Thompson from the Council's Operational Services said :

"We're already noticing an increase in the amount of recycling Pendle people are putting out for collection in their brown bins.

"That's really encouraging, just what we wanted to happen!

"We just need to remind people to take in their bins and green recycling boxes after they've been emptied."

If you're still unsure about what to put in your brown bin or where to leave it for collection, call the contact centre on (01282) 661743 or go to www.pendle.gov.uk
