Pennine Lancashire Festival of Food and Culture 2009 - Volunteers Wanted!

The 2009 Pennine Food and Culture Festival is taking place between August 17th and September 17th 2009. Organisers are looking for volunteers to help!

The festival celebrates all that is good in local food and culture attracts over 100,000 visitors to 60 events across Pennine Lancashire.

Rated as one of Visit Britain's top 10 festivals to attend, it includes the World Gravy Wrestling Championship, Strawberries and Opera at Townley Hall, Ale Trails and Medieval Markets.

This year's Festival Ambassadors include:

  • Nigel Howarth ( BBC's Great British Menu) and his business partner Craig Bancroft (Northcote Manor/Ribble Valley Inns)
  • Nick Hunt (Director of Mid Pennine Arts)
  • Andy Holt (The Real Black Pudding Company)
  • Philippa James (Cookery Editor - Lancashire Life Magazine)
  • Mike Wilkinson (Chief Executive Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board).

Local volunteers play a big part in ensuring the success of this festival and organisers would like to hear from anyone who'd like to get involved.

Volunteers who are prepared to help host festival visitors or research the benefits of these events are especially asked to contract the organisers.
