Pendle has a Thriving Future
Published Wednesday 18th February 09
Pendle is a great place to live, work and play - that’s the message from the borough’s key business leaders!
And they really have something to shout about.
Over the last two years a staggering £80m has been invested in Pendle, with more than £60m of projects either underway or planned1.
Business leaders from the private and public sectors have come together as Pendle Vision2. Together they encourage even more investment in the area by giving it a strong identity and voice.
They will unveil one of the group's most powerful tools, a state-of-the-art website developed by Pendle company Northstar Design3, on Monday 23rd February.
The website promotes The Pendle Advantage - a great place to live, work and play.
It includes interviews4 with Pendle's business leaders, telling real success stories about real people and local businesses.
It also highlights Pendle's fascinating history and the decisions made by famous visionaries while in the area.
Dennis Mendoros, OBE, DL, FRAeS is Chairman of Pendle Vision Board and Managing Director of Euravia Engineering and Supply Co Ltd.
Speaking on behalf of the Board, Dennis said: "We're thrilled with the website - it really shows Pendle at its best!
"Having an online presence means that people from all over the world can see what the borough has to offer.
"Pendle has a strong, modern identity which is buzzing with successful enterprises.
"We want to harness this to boost the prosperity of the area and create real opportunities for local people."
Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), said:
"The NWDA recognises the need for a strong online presence in today's increasingly digitally-driven society.
"The new Pendle Vision website rightly captures the borough's spirit and will enable its user to navigate its content with ease.
"By improving the virtual image of Pendle we are stepping closer towards a stronger economy, creating opportunities for growth and making a real difference to local people."
Some of the ways Pendle Vision will boost the borough's economy is by:
- attracting more businesses and entrepreneurs to the area
- helping to tackle worklessness - getting people back into jobs or training
- improving opportunities to learn new skills
- lobbying for funds to regenerate Pendle's towns.
Pendle Vision will help to meet the goals set out in Pendle Partnership's5 exciting plan called Our Pendle, Our Future.
