The closing date for entries to Pendle Business Awards 2012 - one of Lancashire's most prestigious events - has now passed.
"We've had a great response from local businesses," says Councillor Mike Blomeley who has responsibility for Economic Development.
"This really is excellent news because it shows that despite the difficult economic climate, Pendle companies are continuing to thrive.
"We have a lot of very successful companies which deserve recognition and the Business Awards are all about recognising our high achievers."

The trophies have been designed by local company Merc Engineering.

During March the judges will visit the shortlisted companies to make their final assessment. The winners will be announced at the ceremony.
Councillor Blomeley added: "We're really keen to support our local businesses which invest in their staff, products and processes.
"We're fortunate in Pendle to have lots of dynamic companies at the cutting edge and world leaders in their field.
"And let's not forget that our local companies are key contributors to the success of our economy, helping make Pendle a better place to live and work.
"The first two awards events were such a great success and the knock-on effect to our local businesses was substantial, creating a buzz for a very long time.
"We're sure that this year's event will have the same effect and will encourage our businesses to go on to be even bigger and better."
