♥ Love Barnoldswick ♥

Published Monday 6th February 12

Passionate Barlick bakers are putting their skills to the test in a romantic Valentine's Day bake off event called Love Barnoldswick.

The event will be held in Barnoldswick 's Town Square on Tuesday 14th February between 11am and 3pm.

The Barnoldswick bakers will be cooking their way to victory using a cast iron stove oven kindly supplied by Esse, which has its foundry in the town.

The stove has been a regular visitor to Channel 4's River Cottage.

Town Centres Manager, Hanna Latty, explained:

"Some of Barnoldswick's keenest cooks are challenging each other over who can bake the most romantic gift.

"We are also encouraging budding bakers of any age to enter a separate challenge.

"They're invited to design or decorate their own cake or cupcake in a Valentine's Day theme.

"Entries will be judged by a popular vote - so the quirkier, the better!

"For those who don't manage to bring one they've prepared earlier, there will be a cupcake expert on hand to help you bake and decorate your own cake at the Love Barnoldswick event."

Visitors to the Love Barnoldswick event will also be able to view Love Barnoldswick displays carefully prepared and created by passionate, independent Barnoldswick businesses who simply Love Barnoldswick !" said Town and Borough Councillor David Whipp.

Why not come along and buy your loved one a unique, one-off Valentines Day gift?

The event will also see the joint launch of a glossy Visit Barnoldswick guide and Visit Barnoldswick website which will be launched with a bang at 12 noon. The address for the website will be www.visitbarnoldswick.co.uk.

The guide features all the unique shops and shopkeepers in the town as well as local visitor attractions.

It can be picked up from local businesses, the Rainhall Centre, Barnoldswick's Tourist Information Centre and the local library.

Town Centres Manager Hanna Latty said:

"We'll be sending it out to encourage visitors from outside the area to come and shop here and also to visit us online, too."

The website includes all the latest news on where to eat, drink, shop and stay and a full guide to events and activities.

The guide and website have been produced thanks to funding from the Town Council and Pendle Council.

Councillor Whipp explained:

"The new magazine-style Visit Barnoldswick guide is packed with stunning photographs and bags of information about the friendly market town of Barnoldswick.

"Our shop keepers really are a passionate group of individuals.

"In fact, Barnoldswick is ranked as having the second highest proportion of independent traders in the country.

"That's why we want to encourage local people to be loyal to local businesses because they all offer something extra special.

"Barlick is like no other town.

"It's distinctly different to 'clone town' Britain.

"Our friendly little town is bursting with independent, individual and locally owned family run shops," he added.
