Small housing development for Bunkers Hill

Areas of land on Bunkers Hill near Primet Bridge, Colne could be developed for 30 new homes.
The land earmarked for redevelopment is mainly owned by Pendle Council with one piece of land owned by Lancashire County Council.
Councillors at the meeting of the Executive on 14th December agreed to make the land surplus to council requirements.
The Council will be entering into a conditional Development Agreement with Pearl2, our joint venture partnership with Barnfield Investment Properties.
Julie Palmer, who manages a number of housing development and regeneration schemes in Pendle, said:
"We held a public exhibition on 9th December to show residents and businesses in the area the proposals and to listen to views and answer questions.
"Despite the poor weather, 24 people attended and their views were collected and passed on to the Executive to help them make their decision," she explained.
A wide range of comments were made and issues raised. Some residents felt the scheme would 'improve the area 'and 'make the area more desirable'.
There was some concern about building in a difficult economic market and whether this could result in unsold houses being sold on to investors and private landlords.
Businesses were pleased that the car park off Greenfield Road would be kept, with environmental improvements carried out to it.
The Executive on 14th December agreed to make the land available for the development by Pearl2 to build 30 new homes involving a mixture of bungalows and houses.
The aim is also to build up to eight of these homes as affordable housing, involving shared ownership and affordable rent.
The aim is for these to be managed by Housing Pendle.
In the light of comments from residents, the Councillors on the Executive agreed that more discussions should take place with PEARL2.
These would include phasing the development in gradually and looking at local community and amenity issues.
A newsletter will be sent out updating residents on the outcome of these discussions with more information on the proposals for Bunkers Hill.
Councillor Tony Beckett who leads on housing regeneration for the Council said:
"This will be an attractive area for people to live in and it will be a small, quality housing development.
"By building bungalows, private homes and affordable homes we will be offering Pendle people more housing choice.
"Types of housing like bungalows are in short supply in Pendle," he explained.
Pearl2 aims to apply for planning permission in the new year.
