Traffic restrictions on Pendle Hill and What's On this Hallowe'en!
Published Friday 21st October 11
Hallowe'en revellers are being advised not to head for Pendle Hill after dark on October 31st. But there's still lots to do in the area!
The hill will be closed to fairground rides, mobile catering units and parked cars from 5pm until 3am on the night of October 31st and there will also be a one-way system in place for traffic travelling from the A59 to Sabden.
Inspector Chris Saville said: "As with previous years, it has been necessary to take these precautions to ensure the public remain safe on Pendle Hill this Hallowe'en. "
Pendle Hill will be closed to all traffic travelling from Sabden. All vehicles entering the village are asked to leave via alternative routes either towards Padiham or Whalley. Access to the Wellsprings Inn at the Nick o' Pendle will be by ticket only.
- For more information on traffic restrictions for Hallowe'en, visit the Lancashire Police website.
If you want to follow tradition and climb Pendle Hill this Hallowe'en, please do it in daylight. Make sure you're suitably dressed with proper footwear. Take along food, drink, a first aid kit and a mobile phone just in case.
If climbing the hill isn't your thing, there are plenty of other events taking place in Pendle this Hallowe'en. If you like to get out and enjoy our beautiful countryside, get a copy of our 7 mile Walking with Witches Trail which covers the story of the Pendle Witches.
