Get your tickets for the Mayor’s 'A Bit Of A Do'

Published Tuesday 25th October 11

The Mayor of Pendle is inviting older people from across the Borough to the annual Christmas knees-up at Colne Muni.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 1st November for 'A Bit of A Do', hosted by His Worship the Mayor of Pendle Councillor Nadeem Ahmed.

Councillor Ahmed said:

"Since I've been Mayor, I've really enjoyed getting out and about and meeting local people in lots of different situations.

"I'm looking forward to spending time with people from our older generation in the run-up to Christmas.

"I know that previous Mayors have always enjoyed these events and am sure that I will too."

As well as turkey with all the trimmings, 'A Bit Of A Do' offers some first-class entertainment.

First on stage - and sure to be a hit with everyone - will be the Trawden Ladies Choir who will perform traditional Christmas carols.

They'll be followed by two top-class singers, both back by popular demand.

Delightful diva Andrea Louise is an excellent vocalist with a powerful voice - and the 'wow factor'.

Handsome Vinny Mac is a smooth, silver-tongued crooner who sounds as good as he looks.

New to the bill this year is James Brandon. An award-winning comedy vocalist, he is sure to add some humour to the afternoon.

And experienced compere Vaughan Jones will make sure the whole show runs smoothly.

This year's event will take place on Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th December.

The show begins at 11.45am with lunch at 12 noon, and ends around 3.30pm.

Anyone who comes along will enjoy a pre-lunch drink followed by a traditional roast turkey dinner.

Anyone with special dietary needs shouldn't worry as there will be a suitable alternative on offer - please ask about this when you ring to book your tickets.

A Christmas Raffle will be held at each of the events with all proceeds going to the Mayor's chosen charities.

These are Pendleside Hospice, Rainbows at the Holden Centre in Barrowford and Starlight.

Shelagh Czapowski, Luncheon Clubs and Community Halls Manager, said:

"As usual, we're providing community transport to take people with mobility problems to and from the event on selected days, subject to availability.

"But spaces are limited so we're asking people to book their seats as soon as possible."

Tickets are on sale from 1st November and cost £8.

To reserve your tickets, contact Shelagh Czapowski on (01282) 661561 between 10am and 12 noon, and 1pm and 4pm.

(Unfortunately bookings cannot be taken outside these hours).
