Join the line-up for Nelson's next big event!

Nelson town centre is bracing itself for its next big event – a celebration of Lancashire Day and the Nelson Christmas lights switch-on!

Both events will take place on Saturday 26th November, starting at 11am.

And if you have a Lancashire-themed business or performance, here's your chance to get involved.

Pendle Council's Tourism and Community Initiatives Manager Vaughan Jones is organising both events. He said:

"If you thought last year's Lancashire Day celebrations were great, wait until you see what we've got planned for this year!

"Having now got the amazing amphitheatre, Nelson town centre has a 'heart' in which to stage events like this.

"Who could forget the colourful art car parade which marked the reopening of the town's high street in the summer?

"One of the most popular acts from that event will be making a welcome return on 26th November - but that's all we're saying for now!"

A Lancashire Day celebration just wouldn't be complete without some traditional Lancashire food.

So the popular Lancashire market will be returning, with stalls selling local produce such as cheese, black pudding and chocolate.

All the stalls are free - if you'd like to have one, please get in touch with Pendle Council as soon as possible.

And if you are in a band or group with Lancashire links in your performance, you could perform in the new amphitheatre or on stage.

Performances lined up so far include Nelson Brass Band, Borderline Theatre Company and the Britannia Coconut Dancers from Bacup.

Also performing hourly throughout the Lancashire Day event will be Nelson's own Town Crier, Councillor Tony Beckett.

Together with Pendle's Mayor, Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, he'll declare the event open at 11am, then read the official Lancashire Day proclamation every hour until 3pm.

Nelson library will once again be running their popular family history workshops, helping Lancashire folk trace back their roots.

And as if all that wasn't enough, a free town centre ice rink will give visitors the chance to ice skate to get in the mood for the Christmas lights switch-on at 6pm.

A very special host of angels will be on hand to delight the crowds, ahead of the countdown to the big switch-on by the Mayor of Pendle.
