Would you like to have a go at promoting film in your community?
Published Friday 7th October 11
Could you and your community group put on some film between now and mid-January? Spot On's Yorkshire colleagues, Blaize have been touring film to rural communities for a while.
Thanks to a partnership with Cine North and some funding from North West Film and Media, Spot On Touring can bring you a pilot film service this autumn, delivered by Blaize.
The pilot is aimed at rural community groups in Pennine Lancashire who have no equipment, and are new to promoting film.
What do I do now?
Just email sue@spotonlancashire.co.uk by FRIDAY 14th October expressing an interest in being involved.
Spot On will forward your contact details to Ellen Thorpe at Blaize who will get in touch with you and answer any questions you may have. Blaize will be running the project. You will get all the equipment, someone to come and run it and help with publicity. You don't need to be technical at all.
Will it cost me anything?
There is a charge of £110 which is for the film licence. Spot On will provide any group willing to have a go with a £50 guarantee against loss, just to make sure its risk free. You can cover your costs through tickets. What a deal!
Everything you need to know is in the linked document below:
You don't have to fill it in yet, its there for your information. Blaize will take you through it step by step.
There are a few small cinemas already in Pennine Lancashire, and Spot On will work to make sure they don't conflict with them. So the further away you are from a cinema, the more chance you have of this working for you! They welcome rural promoters, young people's groups - any group who wants to have a go!
When do I have to do this by?
The project needs to happened by mid-January and Spot On are looking for 3 venues/groups, to host 6 films between them. This doesn't mean you have to fit in two events. You could do two films in a day- a matinee for children/older people, and an evening film. They also encourage you to add on activities around it, for example tapas with a Spanish film, hot pot suppers etc.
So if you want this, email Sue your interest. Its a great, stress free chance to have a go at something new!
