12 unemployed Pendle people have taken part in a one-day course which could help them get a job in the catering industry.
They completed their Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Level 2 in Food Safety, in the training provided by Pendle Council's Tackling Unemployment Team.
The qualification is essential for many jobs in the catering trade.
Roger Plum, from Pendle's Tackling Unemployment Team, said:
"This qualification means the 12 unemployed residents are now in a much stronger position when applying for job where food is involved.
"The training has also allowed some people to do voluntary work in the food industry, which is fantastic because it will help build up their experience and strengthen their CVs."
Local man Peter Woodcock, who completed the course, said:
"The course was really interesting, with lots of practical advice and information.
"I am confident that this training will help me with my applications for working in a kitchen or something similar."
Councillor Mike Blomeley, Pendle Council's Leader, who also leads on Economic Development, added:
"The Tackling Unemployment Team works tirelessly to ensure local people actively looking for work get the support they need to find a job.
"This is just one of the wide range of services the team provides.
"If you're struggling to find a job, I urge you to get in touch with them to see if they can help."
The training was financed by the Working Neighbourhoods Fund.
