Reviewing places to vote in Pendle

Published Thursday 30th June 11

Pendle Council is looking at the places where you can go to vote in elections.

A review of all polling districts and polling places will take place over the next few months.

To see which polling stations we currently have, look at our Polling Station Directory.

Polling stations are places like schools, church halls, village halls and community centres.

Stephen Barnes, Chief Executive of Pendle Council and Returning Officer for Pendle, said:

"The review into where Pendle people can go to vote in elections will look at how convenient the places are to get to, and how easy they are to access for everyone, including people with disabilities.

"People will also be able to suggest alternative polling stations.

"We want to make it as convenient as possible for local people to cast their votes.

"When we last reviewed polling stations four years ago, we changed a few to make it easier for local residents."

Everyone in Pendle is invited to write with their suggestions by Monday 1st August 2011 to:

Elections Office

Pendle Council

Town Hall

Market Street

Nelson BB9 7LG

Alternatively, you can email your suggestions to elections@pendle.gov.uk.

Councils must carry out reviews of their polling stations every four years under the Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006.

For more information about this review of polling stations, telephone the Elections team (01282) 661919.
